The Garret is a very private,
expansive tee-shaped room covering the entire top floor of the
keeper's house, lit by candles and the glow from the lighthouse.
Windows overlook the tower (100 feet away) and its backdrop of sea
and distant islands, and our organic gardens and the Isle au Haut
Thoroughfare. Your private bath boasts the most spectacular
open-sea view on the Maine coast. A cozy sitting/reading area
includes a comfy day bed. Tall folks are advised: the
ceiling is low in places and one needs to scramble sideways to get
in an out of the double-sized bed tucked into a nook facing the
lighthouse. At night, the subtle rose-colored blush from the
beacon, just outside your window, pulses through the room.
Remember: we are off the power grid, so our modest electrical
needs are provided by solar and wind energy, and our water is made
from the sea, so conservation and recycling are important.

All meals (including our traditional
Wednesday night lobster bake), provisions, bicycles, beverages,
special diet requests and taxes are included in the four day, three
night (Monday till Thursday) package price of $1300 per couple.
