About Keeper's House Inn and Cottage Rental

The Keeper's House Inn, an operating lighthouse station located on the remote island of Isle Au Haut, sits atop rugged ledges overlooking the Atlantic, surrounded by dense spruce forests and island panoramas. Built by the U.S. Lighthouse Board in 1907 and now on the National Register of Historic Places, the restored lighthouse station is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time to experience the beauty and solitude of another era.Enjoy our view

The Acadia National Park System includes over half of the island, maintaining it as a wilderness area and limiting access to a few dozen visitors a day from off the island. The Inn provides bikes for guests curious to explore the park, the village, or to follow the town road around the island to an idyllic swimming pond.

Untouched by tourist development, Isle Au Haut is a naturalist's delight. Deer, seals, osprey, and porpoises visit the lighthouse and the spectacular trails of Acadia are at our doorstep. Hiking, relaxation, contemplation, conversation and fine dining will highlight your stay at The Keeper's House.  (Click on the photo to right to enlarge.)
